Welcome to the new site for ILO-WEDGE

An on-line community for promoting women's entrepreneurship development, resource sharing and best practices

A new on-line home for ILO-WEDGE

WEDGE, a project of the Women's Entrepreneurship Development programme, of the ILO’s Small Enterprise unit(EMP/SEED), is in its third and final phase, where we are focusing on enhancing dialogue and building capacity for project  sustainability, monitoring and evaluation.

Within this phase we are looking to build on existing channels of communication and resource sharing among our partner organizations, trainers and stake holders working to promote women’s entrepreneurship development.

As part of this objective, we are piloting a new 6 month newsletter, Inside-ILO
WEDGE, as well as the new WEDGE website, to serve as a platform for resource and information sharing among our partners and community.

The first issue of Inside ILO-WEDGE will be released in July, 2009. We will be putting out a call for resources and best practice submissions from partners and stakeholders that will be shared and included within the upcoming issues of the newsletter.

We are very excited to launch these communication tools and expand our strengths within the last phase of WEDGE. We are looking forward to hearing your feedback, reading about your experiences and build on the potential of a strong network.

The WEDGE website is an online hub for
resources, news and dialogue. The website includes an online forum to further facilitate communication and resource sharing.  We look forward to building this space and fostering a community of knowledge, resources and experience to continue to promote and build women’s entrepreneurship.

News

The homepage of the public ILO website features a story, written by a freelance journalist, highlighting the success of WEDGE Cambodia, entitled: By cooking and cleaning, Cambodia’s Mr. Mom sweeps away poverty. Based on testaments from men and women who have participated in the Cambodia WEDGE project, the article highlights how entrepreneurship as well as gender equality training has influenced the domestic division of labour, decision making and consequently the amount of time that women have to grow their businesses.
